Wonderful interview with the Ventura County Star !

The Star has decided to do an article on Rock Me. They were very intrigued by our unconventional ways we prefer to run things at the shop. As many of you know I have had my daughter Phoenix coming to work with me since she was 4 weeks old. It was never an issue of where this little angel would go during the days when mommy returned to work. Kelly has always had the "Us women need to stick together!" approach and this situation was no different. She provided a nurturing environment for us both so we could be together in these tender first months and years of life. Allowing me to continue working while not having to sacrifice being with my child has been amazing. Now after two years, Phoenix is completely integrated into Rock Me. She adds a softer, light-hearted feel to every one's day in this busy world.

Her presence has made a powerful statement...... in a small business setting, especially one that is solely made up of women, if you can accommodate a new mom having her baby with her, then why not? We just assume that work can't be done with a little one in tow but it's just not true. I wear Phoenix in a sling while doing makeup, have her drawing next to me while I work on the computer, feed her lunch in her princess throne while I'm working on the sales floor, etc. She is so comfortable with my work environment that it doesn't occur to her to grabs things off the shelves or get into trouble. Honestly, I get more done because my mind isn't thinking about where and what she's doing like it would if she was away from me all day.
We'll keep you posted on when the article comes out.
In the meantime, drop by and say hi to our tiniest employee!
